Born in Eleele, Kauai, she was a civilian interpreter for the U.S. military during World War II, sixth-grade teacher at Salem Hyde Elementary and Shenendehoah Central schools in New York state, worked at the former KIPA radio station, was an executive manager at the former Nihon Restaurant and Cultural Center, retired as an educator from the Hawaii Department of Education, and was a member of Piihonua Houselots Kumiai, Piihonua Houselots Community Association, the Hawaii Shima Fukuoka Kenjinkai, Hui Okinawa, and former member of Big Island Press Club and Hilo Gourmet Club.
