Taylor grabs another honor
Nikki Taylor only needed to play in one game to earn her fourth her Big West Player of the Week award this season.
The junior opposite hitter was honored a day after she recorded her sixth 20-kill match of the season in a four-set victory at Cal Davis.
The program’s record for most weekly honors is five, accomplished by Angelica Ljungquist (1996-Western Athletic Conference) and Kanani Danielson (2009-WAC). Taylor, who has been honored five times in her career, joins Heather Bown (1999-WAC), Kim Willoughby (2001-WAC) and Emily Hartong (2012 and 2013-Big West) in winning the accolade four times in a season.
Despite a 1-0 record on the week, Hawaii fell back a spot to eighth in the top 25 poll. The Rainbow Warriors (23-1, 13-0 Big West) can wrap up the outright league title Tuesday with a victory at Cal Irvine.
