William “Uncle Billy” Hauwawaikaleoonamanuonakanahele Johnson Paris Jr., 92, of Lehuula Nui died Nov. 14 at Kona Community Hospital. Born December 18, 1922, in Honolulu, he was owner of Palika Family Ranch, Kona historian, member of the Paniolo Hall of Fame, U.S. Army World War II veteran who also served in the Hawaii Army National Guard, former deacon and past kahu pono at Lanakila Congregational Church, former trustee of Hawaii Conference Foundation, member of Lions Club of Kona, American Legion Post 20, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 7, Hawaii Cattlemen’s Association, Kainaliu Kumiai, Kona Soil and Water Conservation District and also served on the county’s Transportation and Planning Commissions and Board of Appeals. Visitation 8:30-10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, at the family’s home, 79-7345 Mamalahoa Highway in Lehuula Nui. Celebration of life at 10 a.m. Private internment to follow. Casual attire.
