All students age 15 and younger throughout Hawaii are invited to create original, hand-drawn illustrations for Toyota Hawaii’s 2016 Dream Car art contest.
Entry forms and rules are available online at ToyotaHawaii.com and at all Toyota Hawaii dealerships statewide. The entry period runs through Jan. 15.
Submitted artwork first will be judged at the local level (Toyota Hawaii local contest), with the top three artworks selected from each age category. The first-place winners will receive an iPad mini 4. The second- and third-place winners in each age category will receive $100.
The top three winners in each age category will be entered in the Toyota world contest, where they could be selected to receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Japan to attend the final awards ceremony in the summer of 2016. Since 2012, three Hawaii artists have traveled to Japan to participate in the world competition.
Students must use the correct size paper (11-by-17-inches ledger size) and complete the official entry form for their entry to be considered.
Mailed entries can be sent to: Toyota Dream Car Art Contest, c/o Toyota Hawaii, P.O. Box 2788, Honolulu, HI 96803-2788
Entrants are encouraged to keep Toyota’s core concepts in mind:
• Conservation/environmentally friendly cars.
• Cars that promote world peace.
• Concept cars that encourage helping others.
Student artists will compete in the following three age categories: 7 and younger, 8-11 and 12-15.
“Last year, we received more than 800 entries from local students,” said Glenn Inouye, Toyota Hawaii senior vice president.
All eligible artwork will be automatically entered into the people’s choice competition, where family, friends, and fans of the Toyota Hawaii Facebook page will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite entries from Feb. 15-28, 2016.
