Bird hunting will be allowed in several sections of Pohakuloa Training Area on Saturday and Sunday

The Keamuku Maneuver Area and Ahi Unit (training areas 9, 12-16 and portion of 18) will be open for shotgun hunting of birds only from 6 a.m.-6 p.m.

All hunters must check in and check out at one of the new Army check-in stations located at the following locations: Old Saddle Road Gate, across from the Mauna Kea State Park entrance; mile-marker 49.5 gate on Daniel K. Inouye Highway (New Saddle Road), approximately 1 1/2 from Mamalahoa Highway on the left; Gate 10 near mile-marker 53 on Old Saddle Road, 1 mile from Mamalahoa Highway.

Hunters must be out of all hunting areas by 6 p.m. each day. Use of shotgun slugs is not permitted.

Access to the KMA training area is by foot only; hunters should park in designated parking areas. Vehicle access to the Ahi Unit will be allowed via the Ahi Road gate, located at the 38.5 mile marker of Daniel K. Inouye Highway. Hunters are advised to not block roads or park in tall grass.
