Saydee Bacdad

Saydee Bacdad

Sport: Soccer

The performance: This is the first such honor for Bacdad, but chances are it won’t be her last.

The Hilo High freshman’s debut in BIIF soccer couldn’t have gone better.

In the Vikings’ opener Tuesday, Bacdad made 10 saves, many of the outstanding variety – including four on breakaways – in a 1-0 victory at Kamehameha. Even more, Bacdad challenged shooters with aggressive positioning and her constant challenging of possession to limit shots.

She followed that up by holding two-time defending HHSAA Division II champion Hawaii Prep to a goal Saturday in a 2-1 victory in Waimea, making three saves.
