Kamalo Yamamoto, 86, of Kapaau died Dec. 4 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Kohala, he was retired from the former Kohala Sugar Co. and Mauna Kea Beach Hotel as a general maintenance worker and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Kohala Ward. Visitation 8-10:30 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 19) at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Kohala Ward, 55-524 Hawi Road, Hawi. Funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Hawi County Cemetery. Survived by wife, Hanako Yamamoto of Kapaau; sons, Jeffrey K. (Rosemary) Yamamoto of Kapaau and Wesley (Tarne) Yamamoto of Hawi; daughters, Beverlee (Wayne) Yoneda of Honokaa and Rae (Elston) Takayama of Keaau; brothers, Silom Yamamoto of Hawi, William (Mildred) Yamamoto and Kamaka Yamamoto of Hilo, Solomon K. (Rose Marie) Yamamoto of Arizona, Manuel (June) Yamamoto of Halaula; sisters-in-law, Ethel Yamamoto and Gwendellyn Yamamoto of Kapaau; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; nephews, nieces, and an aunt.
