‘Save us all’
‘Save us all’
Hawaiian people might be responsible for saving or watching our world be destroyed.
Halloween night, an asteroid the size of the Trump Tower traveling at 78,000 mph passed us at about the distance of the moon. Another much larger rock some 1 1/2 miles wide is going to fly past us Christmas Day.
The telescopes on Mauna Kea are the reason we can see these monsters coming at us. One of the main reasons for the new telescope is to spot asteroids months in advance, maybe allowing us to divert one from destroying Earth.
Adding yet another telescope that could save planet Earth and solve the mysteries of the universe outweighs any feelings people have about some mountain god.
We need to go forward into the future led by science, not protest. And if this mountain god exists, don’t you think she would want us to build the telescope on her and possibly save us all?

Drive safe
Has the law changed where people can turn left on the red light?
These past two days, while stopped on Kilauea Avenue, my light turned green, but three cars turned left from Kilauea Avenue to Kekuanaoa Street on their red light.
Again (Tuesday), while at this intersection, two cars turned left on their red light, and as my car and the car next to me proceeded ahead, a third car darted out, making a left turn on the red light.
I jammed my brakes and really blasted my horn while a passenger in that offending car gave me a dirty look.
This is a busy intersection waiting for an accident to happen. Let’s all be law-abiding and good citizens and drive responsibly. Help make this holiday season a safe one.
