Keaau High is accepting applications for head boys and girls volleyball coach.
All applicants must be willing and able to pass a criminal background check and be interviewed by a select panel. Applications can be picked up and returned to the school’s main office – by Jan. 20 – during regular business hours.

BIIF needs water polo officials
The BIIF is looking for people interested in becoming water polo officials for the upcoming season.
Some background in water polo is important and training will be offered.

Waiakea golf benefit Jan. 9
The Friends of Waiakea Golf will host its 2016 Waiakea High School Golf Scramble Saturday at Hilo Municipal Golf Course.
The tournament format is a two-person scramble, costing $200 per team, which includes green fees, golf cart, pupus, bento lunch and dessert.

Kupuna softball tourney slated
The Hui Aumakua youth organization will host a kupuna softball tournament Jan. 9-10 at Walter Victor Stadium.
The event is a fundraiser and warm-up for the 2016 Hawaii Kupuna Softball League, which opens Jan. 23 around the Big Island.
Entry fees from each team and proceeds from the concession stand will help defray expenses for Hui Aumakua’s planned trip for its Bronco (ages 11-12) team to participate in a week-long baseball tournament at Cooperstown, New York.

Teams in the tournament are Hilo Pomaikai, Junk Yard Dogs, Honomu, Kuikahi, Friends, Kona Warriors, Punatics, Kua’ Aina, Puu Wai Opio, Tsunami, and Onomea Rangers. Games are seven innings with a time limit.
