The performance: The UH-Hilo graduate carded a 4-under 66 on Sunday at Sony Open in Honolulu and finished in a tie for 42nd at 9-under 271 on the PGA tour event held on his home island.
Mason, 33, earned a $18,661.50 payday and a major boost of confidence that he belongs among the best golfers in the world.
It was his best tournament result after not making the cut in two Sonys and a U.S. Open.
