The Alzheimer’s Association will present free lectures during three Saturdays in February at the Aging and Disability Resource Center in Hilo.
Hilo Alzheimer’s Association program coordinator Chris Ridley will lead the presentations.
At 9 a.m. Feb. 6, the first topic will be “What Is Dementia,” a workshop which reviews dementia, the symptoms, warning signs, misconceptions and potential treatments.
The movie “A Time To Remember” will be shown at 11 a.m. This 2003 made-for-television film focuses on a family reunion at Thanksgiving.
At 1 p.m., the Alzheimer’s Association will begin the first of a three-part series for anyone who is forgetful along with their family members. Attendees do not have to have a diagnosis to attend. The program is titled “Living with Forgetfulness.”
The next lecture begins at 9 a.m. Feb. 13 and is titled “Legal Aspects in Dementia.”
The movie “Complaints of a Dutiful Daughter” will be shown at 11 a.m. The film is about one daughter’s experience with her mother’s dementia. Part two of “Living with Forgetfulness” begins at 1 p.m.
The lectures conclude Feb. 20 with “Communication and Behaviors in Dementia” at 9 a.m.
The movie “Savages” will be shown at 11 a.m. Part three of “Living with Forgetfulness” begins at 1 p.m.
