Police charged a 41-year-old woman with a number of financial crimes in Hilo.

At 12:15 p.m. Friday, Mitzi G.P. McArthur, who has no permanent address, was arrested at a bank on the 200 block of Kamehameha Avenue after she allegedly attempted to obtain a loan under another individual’s identity.

McArthur also allegedly damaged a door to the bank as she attempted to flee from responding officers.

Detectives charged McArthur with attempted second-degree theft, second-degree forgery and fourth-degree criminal property damage. Her bail was set at $4,250.

Her initial court appearance was scheduled for Monday.

Police are still investigating possible charges of second-degree identity theft and unauthorized possession of personal and confidential information. Those cases will be forwarded to prosecutors upon completion.
