The Kona Crime Prevention Committee recently honored Officer Peter Tourigny as Officer of the Month for January during a luncheon at Huggo’s in Kailua-Kona.

Nominat-ing officer Sgt. Zachary Houchin said Tourigny has been “a team player with an outstanding attitude” on the Felony Warrant/Special Enforcement Task Force, which was formed to address outstanding felony warrants and crime trends in Kona, such as burglaries, robberies, thefts, auto thefts and auto break-ins.

“With his assistance, this task force has already dismantled several small groups of individuals who have been causing a majority of crimes in the Kona District,” Houchin said. “He has been instrumental in deciphering the information, piecing the information together, identifying the target individuals, seeking the appropriate individuals and arresting them.”

The Kona Crime Prevention Committee encourages community involvement in aiding and supporting police in West Hawaii.
