The University of Hawaii at Hilo baseball team didn’t get much love in the preseason Pacific West Conference poll.

The University of Hawaii at Hilo baseball team didn’t get much love in the preseason Pacific West Conference poll.

None at all, in fact.

The Vulcans were selected last by the coaches in the 10-team league.

Last season, UH-Hilo (11-36, 7-25 PacWest) finished eighth out of nine teams.

California Baptist and Dixie State were picked as the preseason favorites, and the Lancers’ Antonio Chavarria and Tyson Miller were selected as player and pitcher of the year, respectively.

The Red Storm won their second consecutive title last season.

UH-Hilo holds its alumni game Feb. 6 and it hosts the University of Hawaii in a two-game homestand to start the season Feb. 13-14.
