Terry Hanako Hamamoto, 95, of Honolulu, formerly of South Hilo, died Jan. 26 in Honolulu. Born in South Hilo, she was a retired supervisor for the state Identification Bureau. Tsutomu “Nick” Nekoba, 90, of Hilo died Jan. 23 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home in Hilo. Born in Pepeekeo, he was the owner of the former T. Nekoba Store, a member of Papaikou Hongwanji Mission and U.S. Army veteran. Private services. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Luis Mercado Pertubal, 103, of Hilo died Jan. 16 at a private care home in Hilo. Born in San Manuel, Pangasinan, the Philippines, he was a papaya and macadamia nut farmer, carpenter and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Services held. Survived by sons, Ceferino (Leticia) Pertubal of Pearl City, Oahu, Domingo (Marcela) Pertubal of Pahoa and Angelito (Rosalie) Pertubal of Honolulu; daughter, Norma Diego of Hilo; sons-in-law, Teofilo Villa of Pahala and Primitivo Ancheta of the Philippines; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
