Born in Hilo, he was a retired Hawaii Tribune-Herald press operator, worked for Mana Transportation and Amfac, and was a U.S. Army World WW II veteran and member of Waiakea Kumiai, St. Joseph Catholic Church and Big Island Portuguese Cultural Club.
