Hawaii Prep’s Jonas Skupeika made the closing statement to the BIIF boys basketball regular season and provided a small shakeup to the playoff picture.
Skupeika hit a shot from the lane Saturday night as time expired and finished with 14 points, and Ka Makani edged Pahoa 38-36 in Waimea to take a little momentum to the postseason.
HPA (7-5) won for only the third time in eight games heading into a Division II semifinal against St. Joseph (6-6) on Friday at Hilo Civic.
The Daggers’ fourth consecutive loss dropped them to the fourth seed. Vijay Julian scored 12 points for Pahoa (5-7), which will face Honokaa in the other semifinal on Friday.
