The Arc of Hilo announced the receipt of $25,000 from the Robert E. Black Fund of the Hawaii Community Foundation and $2,000 from the Sadamitsu, Milly, Fred and Leatrice Yokoyama Fund of the Hawaii Community Foundation Funds.

“The Arc of Hilo is a leading nonprofit provider of services for individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, physical disabilities and other special needs,” said CEO Debbie Perkins. “For more than 62 years, the Arc has been offering help and hope to adults and teens living with disabilities, and to the families who love them.

“These funds will enable us to support new programs, provide training opportunities and expand our community outreach,” Perkins said.

“It is of the utmost importance that we step up to provide assistance to the individuals and families most in need,” she added. “This summer we look forward to the opening of the new Job Creation and Training Center at our Hilo campus, which will offer innovative opportunities for employment, economic independence and entrepreneurism.”
