The Kona Crime Prevention Committee honored Officer Nicholas McDaniel as Officer of the Month for February.

The Kona Crime Prevention Committee honored Officer Nicholas McDaniel as Officer of the Month for February.

Sgt. Zachary Houchin described McDaniel as the “catalyst” for the Kona Patrol Division’s Felony Warrant/Special Enforcement Task Force, which was formed to address outstanding felony warrants and crime trends in Kona, such as burglaries, robberies, thefts, auto thefts and auto break-ins.

McDaniel was assigned to the task force in October.

“Since Officer McDaniel’s recent assignment, he has been a team player with an outstanding attitude,” Houchin wrote in nomination papers. “He is energetic, intelligent, decisive, focused and efficient in doing his part in assisting in accomplishing the goals of this task force.”
