Fire caused about $160,000 of damage this morning to the Hilo Domino’s Pizza store on Kilauea Avenue, according to a statement from the Fire Department.
Eight units responded to the 6:53 a.m. alarm, with the first unit arriving about four minutes later.
Firefighters, who made a forced entry through the back of the store, which was closed, found the fire in the storeroom and extinguished it before it spread.
The quick response saved approximately $1.6 million in property value in the strip mall where the pizza store is located.
The statement didn’t state the cause of the fire but noted the case was turned over to police and fire inspectors.
The Tribune-Herald was unable to contact Domino’s by phone this morning.
