HAGATNA, Guam (AP) — Millions of dollars in tax returns have not been paid out in Guam.
The government began paying out refunds at this time last year.
More than 11,000 returns have been filed with the Guam Department of Revenue and Taxation. The 1,800 that have been processed represent about $8.57 million in refunds.
Department of Administration director Kathrine Kakigi told lawmakers in January that the government was dealing with a cash crunch.
The governor has been unsuccessfully fighting a court order requiring all error-free refunds be paid within six months of filing.
