Beverly Ann Carvalho, 64, of Kailua-Kona died Feb. 10 at home. Born in Kealakekua, she was a community service worker for the county Nutrition Program, was co-owner of Upcountry Gardens, worked for Emma’s Flower Shop and was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Visitation 9-11 a.m. Saturday, March 5, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Kailua-Kona. Mass at 11 a.m. Casual attire; flowers welcome. Survived by son, Martin (Lani) Carvalho Jr. of Kailua-Kona; daughter, Michele (Dave Mayers) Carvalho of Kailua-Kona; mother, Leslie Duarte of Holualoa; brothers, William Duarte Jr., Allan (Ucila) Duarte and Wayne Duarte of Holualoa; sisters, Judy Duarte of Holualoa and Darlene Duarte of Hilo; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins. Nichole Ku‘uipo Mai Lani Perreira-Pagatpatan, aka Nichole Kaiwi, 34, of Kahului, Maui, formerly of Hawaii Island, died Jan. 25 at Kaiser Moanalua Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Honolulu, she was a teaching assistant at Kamehameha Preschool Paukukalo and a Hilo High School alumna. Lorraine Poli (Akiona) Kaniho, 86, of Waimea died Feb. 6 at home. The widow of Kenneth Kaniho Sr., she loved music and being with family. Private family services at a later date. She was the mother of sons, Gary Kaniho of Albuquerque, N.M., Guy (Sheryl) Kaniho of Kona and Kenneth “Kenny Boy” Kaniho Jr., deceased; and daughters, Sharon (Pete) Peterson of Bisbee, Ariz., and Blanche (Pat) Batchelder of Waimea. Survivors include sisters, Josie Delaura and Shirley Herring of Vallejo, Calif., Ramona Teves, Dorothy Kekuewa, Veronica Samera and Lorna Akiona of Honolulu; 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Mark Alan Murray, 67, of Kailua-Kona died Feb. 10 at home. Born in Beech Grove, Ind., he co-founded Wong and Murray, a San Francisco-area public relations firm, was a radio news and sports reporter and award-winning video producer, and member of Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity, past director of the Northern California Golf Association and golf champion of Diablo Country Club. Celebration of life 2 p.m. Sunday, March 6, at Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity, 77-165 Lako St., Kailua-Kona. No flowers. Memorial donations to Hospice of Kona.
