Police are investigating a vehicle wreck as a negligent homicide after a passenger in a sedan that hit a utility pole off Kaiwiki Road on Monday died.

Police are investigating a vehicle wreck as a negligent homicide after a passenger in a sedan that hit a utility pole off Kaiwiki Road on Monday died.

Feliza Padilla, 93, of Hilo was pronounced dead Tuesday at Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu.

The driver, a 68-year-old woman form Michigan, also was flown to the medical center. Another passenger, a 71-year-old man, was taken to Hilo Medical Center.

Police said it’s not known if speed was a factor or if seat belts were used.

Alcohol or drug use is not suspected.

Police ask anyone with information about this crash to call Officer Clarence Acob at 961-2293.
