Joanne Potts, Hospice of Hilo’s advanced practice registered nurse, was selected as one of 60 University of Hawaii at Manoa nursing alumni for recognition at the School of Nursing’s 60th anniversary gala.
More than 130 nominations were submitted for this honor.
The event will take place at the nursing school’s Sensational 60th Anniversary Gala on June 16 at the Sheraton Waikiki. The festive evening will celebrate excellence in nursing education at UH-Manoa and honor outstanding nursing alumni.
“Joanne is an invaluable gift to Hospice of Hilo and our community,” said Hospice of Hilo CEO Brenda S. Ho. “She has the incredible ability to calm your spirit and make you feel safe. She gives confidence to new nurses without even saying anything to them, and just by her presence she is able to calm patients and their loved ones.”
Hospice of Hilo provides specialized comfort care for patients facing a life-limiting or serious illness. Services are delivered to patients in their place of residence or at the Pohai Malama a Harry &Jeanette Weinberg Care Center.
In addition to hospice services, Hospice of Hilo also provides bereavement counseling to any and all residents who have lost a loved one (regardless of whether the loved one received hospice care).
