Born in Hilo, he was a bus driver for Jack’s Tours and a bouncer at the former Kona Lagoon Hotel. He also worked at A.C.’s Restaurant. Visitation 9 a.m. March 26 at the Hawaii Big Game Fishing Club, Honokohau Harbor. Memorial service at 11 a.m., luncheon to follow. Casual attire, no flowers. Toshio Shirai, 97, of Captain Cook died Feb. 24 at Life Care Center of Kona. Born in Kapapala, he was a retired commercial fisherman and coffee farmer and member of the Hanei Kumiai, Hawaii Avocado Association, Hawaii Farm Bureau Federation, Kona Adult Day Center, Kona Historical Society, Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple and Kona Kumamoto Kenjin Kai. Visitation 2-3 p.m. March 26 at the Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple in Kealakekua; memorial service at 3 p.m. Casual attire. Yoshimi Yamamoto, 93, of Hawi died March 6 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Kohala, he was the retired owner of Veterans’ Service Station, a U.S. Army World War II veteran with the 442nd Unit and member of the Hawi Jodo Mission.
