It is an encouraging thing to see the next generation giving back to the community.

Last month, Christian Liberty Academy elementary school students collected more than $1,000 at their monthly Star Party event, overseen by the junior high and high school, to donate toward 10th-grader Kylyn Rapoza’s Project Smile program.

Kylyn, 2015 Miss Teen Tropical Island, started the program to provide gift baskets filled with stuffed animals, games, coloring books and other items to children receiving long-term care at Hilo Medical Center.

Medical center staff thanks the Christian Liberty students for showing aloha to keiki in need.
