A man and woman were arrested and are charged with crimes in connection with a stolen vehicle.

On Saturday, a Toyota 4Runner was taken from 19th Avenue in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision in Puna.

On Monday, officers spotted the Toyota on Saddle Road and followed it to Hilo, where a man and a woman fled from the vehicle. The two, 22-year-old Kimo Oberle of Hilo and 18-year-old Keahi Javine of Keaau, were arrested nearby and taken to the Hilo police cellblock while officers continued the investigation.

The vehicle was recovered.

On Tuesday, Oberle was charged with driving a stolen vehicle. His bail was set at $2,000. Javine was charged with burglary, driving a stolen vehicle and unauthorized possession of personal confidential information. Her bail was set at $9,000.

Their initial court appearances were scheduled for Wednesday.
