Details: Ken Goodrich will present several multimedia projects exploring the synthesis of sound and light. Using music from many cultures and images ranging from luminescent landscapes to microscopic crystal formations, each piece is designed to transport the viewer through an intimate emotional passage. Goodrich also will speak about the inspirations for his work and share some of his photographic and video techniques. Free, but a $5 donation is appreciated.

REMEMBERING VIETNAM

10TH ANNUAL KOHALA TRASH BASH
Where: Kohala Village HUB, 55-514 Hawi Road, Hawi

Details: This year’s spectacular trash fashion performance, titled “Mystique du Plastique: The Folly of Plastic Unwrapped,” is infused with new dimensions of theatrical storytelling and various styles of dance. Art show reception begins at 5 p.m., trash fashion performance with LavaRoots follows at 7 p.m. Cash bar available at event. Tickets are $15 in advance/$20 at the door. Seating is limited. Details: The history of the Ka‘u District is told mostly through old photographs in the “Images of America” series. As the largest district on Hawaii Island, Ka‘u also looms large in the history of the island as the likely first landing area and settlement of Pacific voyagers, the last battles for control of the island, through sugar and ranching industries. Dennis Elwell will discuss his pursuit of its history in his book.
