Hospice of Hilo invites the community to its 12th annual Celebration of Life, a free community event May 7 at the Wailoa State Park.
The event will feature Hospice of Hilo’s 2-mile Walk to Remember starting at 5 p.m. followed by food, live entertainment and the launching of luminaries on the Wailoa River at dusk. Registration will begin from 3:30 p.m.
“Celebration of Life is a beautiful and profound ceremony that contributes to healing those undergoing their individual journeys of grief,” said Hospice of Hilo community bereavement counselor Cathy Hough. “Walking in joyful remembrance of a loved one and then watching the luminaries released onto the Wailoa River light up the darkness reminds participants they are not alone as they mourn their loss.”
Luminary sales are underway and will continue through the day of the event. Pre-sale luminaries are $20 and $25 on the day of the event. Individuals and teams can download registration forms for the Walk to Remember at www.hospiceofhilo.org.
