As a worldwide effort, the Hilo Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will participate in an annual day of community service.
As a worldwide effort, the Hilo Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will participate in an annual day of community service.
Various projects will be conducted from 7 a.m.-noon Saturday, April 23.
These service projects — a project called Just Serve Helping Hands — will focus on improving and beautifying many public parks and local facilities from Hilo to Ka‘u.
Facilities will include:
• Panaewa Zoo.
• Issac Hale (Pohoiki) Beach Park.
• Whittington (Honuapo) Beach Park.
• Hawaii Island Home for Recovery.
• Hope Services.
Members of the public, ages 8 and older, are welcome to join in at any of the various sites. Projects will include painting parking posts, pulling weeds, cutting grass, refurbishing garden boxes and picking up litter.
Gloves, shoes and parental supervision (for children) are required.
