Born in Hilo, she was a career public school teacher, retiring as a career pathways (health) teacher for Hilo High School and member of Hawaii State Teachers Association, National Education Association and Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin, past-president of the Buddhist Women’s Association (Fujinkai) and Hui Okinawa and volunteered with many organizations, including Hilo Medical Center Dietary Department and Hawaii Blood Bank canteens. James “Jim” Dollard Moss Sr., 82, of Kailua-Kona died April 20 at home. Born in Evanston, Ill., he owned Kona Communications, a trucking magazine publisher. He was a member of the Big Island Country Club, former board member of Ali’i Villas, Christ Church Episcopal, and a U.S. Navy veteran.
