Pahoa Rotary club presents awards

Rotary Club of Pahoa Sunset presented its community service awards May 10 during the club’s 17th annual banquet at the Akebono Theater.

Mark Hinshaw, community leader, received the Individual Service Award. Bay Clinic Pahoa and CEO Harold Wallace received the Organization Service Award.

Community services awards are presented to non-Rotarians who exemplify the club’s motto: “Service Above Self.”

The Rotary Club of Pahoa Sunset hosts weekly meetings at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Akebono Theater. The public is invited to attend.

Families needed to host students

ASSE International Student Exchange Programs, in cooperation with community high schools, is looking for families to host exchange students from a variety of countries.

Exchange students have pocket money for personal expenses and full health, accident and liability insurance.

Host families can choose their student from a variety of backgrounds, countries and personal interests.
