At approximately 3:10 p.m. that day, a man entered a pawn shop on the 200 block of Kilauea Avenue and engaged in conversation with a sales clerk in an apparent attempt to distract the clerk. A second man then entered the store and removed a vintage Kamaka ukulele from a display. Both men then left the area on foot.

Both men were described as being in their mid-20s. One is described as Caucasian, approximately 5-foot-10 and 150 pounds with light hair. He was wearing a baseball cap, a dark-colored long-sleeved shirt and light-colored shorts. The other is described as Polynesian, approximately 5-foot-9 and 140 pounds with dark wavy hair. He was wearing a light-colored T-shirt, jeans and black-and-white athletic shoes.
