The College of Continuing Education and Community Service at the University of Hawaii at Hilo is offering two agricultural workshops with ecologist, horticulturist and land planner Zach Mermel.
Both sessions take place at the UH-Hilo Agriculture Farm. Tuition for each workshop is $35.
“Plant Propagation FUNdamentals” will cover the basics of plant propagation, including methods for rapidly expanding the plant biodiversity for gardens, homesteads or farms. The class is from 5:30-8:30 p.m. June 16.
“Pruning Demystified” is a hands-on workshop that will cover proper pruning techniques for a wide range of tropical and subtropical trees to improve their overall health. Participants should come dressed for fieldwork and bring hand-pruning shears along with a small pruning saw. The class is from 5:30-8:30 p.m. June 23.
