Kealakehe grad Larson misses U.S. Open spot
Hunter Larson, a 2006 Kealakehe graduate, lost in a three-way playoff for the final spot to the U.S. Open at Lake Merced Golf Club in Daly City, Calif., on Monday.
In regulation at the U.S. Open sectional qualifier, Larson finished with a 68-69—137 total and was tied with California’s David Gazzolo and Arizona’s Brandon Harkins for sixth place.
Harkins won the three-man playoff for the final berth to the U.S. Open, which will be held June 16-19.
Former UH-Hilo golfer Chris Keiter struggled to a 78-80—158 total and tied from third-to-last place.
PGA Aloha Section junior, senior skill golf events
The Junior Drive, Chip and Putt, and Aloha Senior Skills Challenge are holding registration.
The senior event will be held June 19 at Hualalai. Entry fee is $25.
