Kolten Wong clearly doesn’t want to be in the minors for long.

Kolten Wong clearly doesn’t want to be in the minors for long.

Wong blasted a walk-off grand slam Thursday in his first game since being demoted to Triple-A Memphis, hitting two home runs in the Redbirds’ 8-5 victory against Colorado Springs in Memphis, Tenn.

Wong drove in five runs, matching his RBI total in his 49 games with the Cardinals. St. Louis sent the struggling Wong down to the minors Monday after the 2008 Kamehameha graduate became the odd man out for playing time in the infield. He was hitting just .222.

After a few of days to think things over, Wong played second and finished 3 for 4 with a walk, leading off the bottom of the first with a home run.

Trailing 2-1 in the top of the ninth, Colorado Springs hit a grand slam to power into the lead, but it didn’t record an out in the bottom half of the inning.

After loading the bases on three singles, a hit batter and a walk scored two runs, and Wong sent a 3-1 pitch over the fence in right-center to send everybody home.
