STRUM, Wis. (AP) — The Milwaukee Brewers served a new style of nachos last weekend after a 10-year-old boy from western Wisconsin proposed the new concession item.
Tyler Webb of Strum suggested using blue corn tortilla chips with nachos instead of the traditional yellow chips.
Brewers officials say Tyler’s Nachos were available at Sunday’s game at Miller Park as well as during a series later this month.
Tyler’s family was eating nachos at home when they ran out of yellow corn chips, so they started using blue corn chips.
“I noticed that the blue chips and yellow cheese were Brewers colors, and they should sell them at Miller Park,” Tyler said Friday while wearing a Brewers outfit.
Tyler’s parents, Buck and Krystal Webb, took his comment seriously.
“I looked at him and asked if he wanted to tell them, and he did,” Buck Webb said. “We got on the internet, found the vendor and sent off an email.”
Tyler, who has played baseball since kindergarten, helped his dad with the initial message.
“I expected they would say something back, but I didn’t expect them to go this far with it,” Tyler said.
Brewers officials say their concessionaire, Delaware North Sportservice, and the team’s front office “loved the concept.”
On Sunday, the Webb family got 14 tickets to a suite, a meeting with Brewers officials and an autographed bat and other gifts.
“This is one of the things we’re trying to teach the kids, that if you have an idea, go for it,” Buck Webb said. “The worst you can get is a ‘no,’ and you move on.”
