The Mokuhonua Bonsai Club, in conjunction with the Hilo Bonsai Kyoshitsu, cordially invites the public to its bonsai display July 1-2 at the Wailoa Center in Hilo.

The Mokuhonua Bonsai Club, in conjunction with the Hilo Bonsai Kyoshitsu, cordially invites the public to its bonsai display July 1-2 at the Wailoa Center in Hilo.

Display hours are 11 a.m.-7 p.m. July 1 and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. July 2. There also will be a demonstration on group planting at 11 a.m. July 1. Group planting consists of selectively placing a number of plants in a tray to form a forest setting.

Admission is free.

Hilo Bonsai Kyoshitsu is a newly formed club. Kyoshitsu means a place of teaching and learning, as the club’s goal is to promote and perpetuate the art and culture of bonsai. The club consists of members with a long history of bonsai experience who provide guidance and support as well as relatively new members who are learning the principles and techniques of bonsai.

Those who have questions about their plants are invited to bring them in for a bonsai analysis by club members.

Come and enjoy the variety of bonsai plants that will be on display and talk story with club members who will be available to answer questions related to bonsai.
