Hilo AYSO registration

The Hilo region of the American Youth Soccer Organization is looking for volunteers and players for the fall season. Players must be 4 years old by July 31.

Mail $85 and a registration form to AYSO PO Box 5000, Hilo, HI 96720. Registration forms are available at Sports Line, 417 Kalanikoa St. in Hilo, at Life Care Center of Hilo, 944 West Kawailani St. and online at www.eayso.org.

Panaewa Ali’i football sign-ups

The Panaewa Ali’i are holding football and cheer registration, and packets are available every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30-5:30 p.m. at Panaewa Park.

New participants will need their original birth certificate, copy of fourth-quarter report card, current 2-by-2 photo as well as the Pop Warner 2016 physical form and parent-participant agreement. Returning players from the past spring season will need their fourth-quarter report card and photo.

Football ages are from 7-15; cheer ages from 5-15. Age is determined on July 31.

Early registration fee is $100 for tackle football and $50 for cheer if completed registration packet and fee is paid by July 15. After July 15 tackle registration is $150.

There are weight restrictions for football.

Anyone interested in assisting on the coaching staffs for tackle and cheer are encouraged to make contact with the association as soon as possible.

Jimmy Yagi hoops camp

The Hawaii County Department of Parks and Recreation invites keiki basketball players to its fourth annual Jimmy Yagi Summer Hoops Camp, which returns to Hilo from July 26-29.

The camp is open to boys and girls 9-17 years, and the early registration fee is $60 per child.

UH-Hilo basketball coaches David Kaneshiro and GE Coleman will serve as lead clinicians during the camp. All participants will receive a camp shirt and group photo.

Make checks payable to the County Director of Finance and include the note “Jimmy Yagi Summer Hoops Camp.”

Registration forms are available at the Department’s recreation office located within Aunty Sally Kaleohano’s Lu‘au Hale at 799 Pi‘ilani St. in Hilo, county gyms islandwide, and at http://www.hawaiicounty.gov/parks-and-recreation/.
