Lehua Hawaii Productions will showcase the talents and beauty of 12 young women at its fifth annual pageant July 23 at the Hilo Civic Auditorium.

Pre-pageant entertainment begins at 6:15 p.m. with the pageant commencing at 6:30.

Anne Roth is the reigning Miss Teen Lehua Hawaii and Raynn Dangaran is the current Young Miss Lehua Hawaii.

Contestants in the 2016 Young Miss category are Izabella Palma, Winnie Mears, Tabitha Pacheco, Maya Kaleo, Faith Picar and Kilinahe Arquero. Vying for the Teen title are Kiana Johnson, Uilani Reis, Shaina Domingo, Diamond Gouveia, Maya Oshiro and Keahe Guiteras.

Lehua Hawaii Productions allows young women to present their talents, develop public-speaking skills, poise and self-confidence, and create lasting friendships.

Lehua producers and directors have developed a venue through pageantry “to embrace every young girl’s dream to be intellectual and beautiful with virtue and substance.”

“Lehua is committed to embrace young women from all walks of life by providing them an opportunity to focus on their personal development,” said Jenilee Waipa, one of Lehua’s directors.

During pageant practices, educational workshops are provided for all contestants covering various topics such as leadership, teen stress, child-trafficking awareness and eating etiquette. Miss Teen and Young Miss contestants are required to coordinate two community service projects each that are overseen by the LHP Directors.

Lehua Hawaii Productions also has implemented a Big Sister Little Sister Program that encourages Miss Teen contestants to adopt a Young Miss contestant and mentor her throughout the course of pageant training. This program continues throughout the reign of Miss Teen and Young Miss.

Advance tickets are available for $10 from contestants and at the door for $12.
