A midday Tuesday fire destroyed a Puna home and a Toyota sedan in its garage.

According to a written Hawaii County Fire Department statement, nine units responded to the 11:47 report of the fire at the home at 15-1726 32nd Avenue in Hawaiian Paradise Park.

The first unit arrived seven minutes later to see fire coming from the garage and smoke from the living quarters of the single-story structure. The fire was reportedly extinguished at 12:20 p.m.

The home and car are both total losses with damages estimated at $210,000.

The Red Cross is aiding the home’s occupant, who was uninjured, according to a statement from the organization.
