Hilo Toastmasters Sharon Justice and Nancy Jo Moses received Distinguished Toastmaster recognition, the organization’s highest level of educational achievement.
As Toastmasters the past seven years, Justice and Moses have learned many valuable speaking and leadership skills, held club and district officers positions, been finalists in speech competitions on Oahu, and mentored club members. They also enjoy working in the community.
“Toastmasters provides members opportunities to practice and develop transferable communication and leadership skills that enable them to be more effective in their jobs, their families and their communities,” Moses said.
One of their most rewarding leadership opportunities was helping to form the Waimea Toastmasters club in January 2015.
Justice says Toastmasters always will be important in her life.
“I am excited by the opportunity to use my communication and leadership skills to inspire and help others,” she said.
Meanwhile, Cain Kamano recently won first place in the International Speech Contest on Oahu with his winning speech, “The Spilt Milk Experiment.” Kamano will represent District 49 in August at the International Conference in Washington, D.C.
