The Hawaii Island United Hongwanji Buddhist Women’s Association recently awarded Kimberly Kamei and Tiana Agdeppa $1,000 scholarships during services at Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin and Honokaa Hongwanji, respectively.
The Hawaii Island United Hongwanji Buddhist Women’s Association recently awarded Kimberly Kamei and Tiana Agdeppa $1,000 scholarships during services at Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin and Honokaa Hongwanji, respectively.
Both girls are distinguished graduates of their respective high schools and demonstrated excellent service to their Hongwanji temples and community, the association said.
Kamei, a Waiakea High School graduate, is the daughter of Howard and Gayle Kamei. She will attend the University of Hawaii at Hilo.
Agdeppa, a Honokaa High School graduate, is the daughter of Federico and Sherry Agdeppa. She plans to become a teacher and will attend Central Washington University.
