After a roller-coaster ride to open her round, Ciera Min found consistency at Rolling Green Golf Club.

The Waiakea grad will need more of the same to reach match play at her first U.S. Women’s Amateur.

Min fired a 2-over 73 on Monday in Springfield, Pa, leaving her on the right side of the leaderboard but with little room for error in the second round.

The top 64 after 36 holes will advance, and Min was in a group of 16 golfers tied for 52nd.

Mariel Galdiano, a three-time HHSAA champion for Punahou (Oahu), was in a six-way tie for fourth after a 69. Mika Liu (66) of Beverly Hills, Calif., led by stroke.

Min started with par on No. 10, but then she went bogey-birdie-birdie-bogey-bogey-birdie on her next six holes. After two more bogeys on the front nine, the Washington State senior finished with six pars.

There are 16 golfers ahead of her at 72, and 20 more a shot behind at 74, including Kacie Komoto and Rose Huang, each of Honolulu.

Honolulu’s Zoey Akagi-Bustin carded an 81 and was near the bottom in the field of 151.

Min is trying to follow in the footsteps of Hilo’s Kimberly Kim, who claimed the Amateur title as a 14-year-old in 2006.
