‘Active shooter’ briefing in Keaau
The Hawaii Police Department will conduct an “active shooter” presentation from 6-8 p.m. Aug. 15 at the Keaau Community Center, located behind the Keaau police substation.
The presentation, which is free and open to the public, is designed to help people increase their survivability should they encounter an active shooter or other type of active violent incident.
Officers also will provide additional resources for participants followed by a question-and answer segment.
Active shooter information also is available on the Hawaii Police Department’s website, www.hawaiipolice.com, under the “Services” tab.
Sex trafficking conference slated
Hilo Aglow is hosting a Sex Trafficking Conference from 6-8 p.m. Aug. 12-13 at New Hope Christian Fellowship Puna, 15-3083 Pahoa Road.
The conference is presented by Ho‘ola Na Pua, an organization working on the Big Island to help prevent and raise awareness about sex trafficking in the community.
