CCECS hosting fall open house
The College of Continuing Education and Community Service at the University of Hawaii at Hilo will host a fall 2016 open house from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Aug. 20 at the UH-Hilo Old Gym.
The public is encouraged to attend and learn about fall noncredit classes, meet instructors and register for classes. Anyone registering at the event will receive a 10 percent discount on class tuition.
Class demonstrations including qigong, yoga, ballroom dance, hula hoop fitness and boxing will be offered, with audience participation encouraged. Taishoji Taiko will perform at 1 p.m. and light refreshments will be provided.

Qigong lecture offered at UH-Hilo
Dr. Liu Ya Fei will present a free public lecture about the health benefits of Inner Nourishing Qigong from 7-9 p.m. Aug. 22 at the University of Hawaii at Hilo.
Inner Nourishing Qigong is a Chinese medical system of physical exercises and breathing control with a 450-year-old legacy.
Liu is a seventh generation qigong master and traditional Chinese medicine physician from the National Beidaihe Medical Qigong Hospital and Training Base in China. Her father, Dr. Liu Guizhen, is known as one of the fathers of modern medical qigong, and coined the phrase “qigong.”
Liu will discuss specific qigong forms to treat a variety of medical problems, such as diabetes, heart disease, digestive problems as well as cancer.

Treatment center welcomes therapist
Robert “Bob” Wiley has joined the staff of The Exclusive holistic addiction treatment center in Honokaa.
Wiley oversees treatment planning, clinical therapist documentation and provides counseling for clients, including those with dual diagnosis.
Wiley is a licensed professional counselor and certified substance abuse counselor with more than 20 years of experience in the addiction field.
He has a master of arts in counseling from Central Michigan University and comes to The Exclusive from the Addiction Solutions Counseling Center in Mt. Pleasant, Mich.
The Exclusive specializes in deep trauma release work and a proprietary program in core belief restructuring. The program offers 30-, 60- and 90-day residential addiction treatment, with a maximum of eight clients at a time in the secluded, 10,000-square-foot oceanfront resort facility.
The special treatment facility is licensed and accredited by the state of Hawaii and participates in offering continuing education seminars for professionals in the addiction recovering field.
