• Sam Bader, the son of Steven Bader and Rose Bautista of Hilo, has been named to the 2016 Lawrence University (Appleton, Wis.) dean’s list for maintaining a 3.4 grade point average or higher for the full 2015-16 academic year. He is a 2014 graduate of Kamehameha Schools-Hawaii.

• Mikaela Willocks of Hilo and Sara Mine of Kurtistown were named to the dean’s list and Kyle Willocks of Hilo was named to the honor roll for the 2015-16 academic year at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley.
• Amelie Sterling of Hilo, a master’s student in the Global Field Program from Miami (Ohio) University’s Project Dragonfly, will study abroad this month in Australia. Sterling will study coral reef ecology and the conservation of marine systems along the Great Barrier Reef.
Sterling also is a program coordinator at Three Mountain Alliance.
