meeting Monday

The Hilo High girls soccer team will have a tryout registration meeting at 5 p.m. Monday at the school cafeteria.

A parent and a student are asked to attend. If a student is unable to attend due to a fall sport, her parent should attend. The meeting will discuss the mandatory tryouts, conditioning, preseason tournaments and the upcoming JV and Varsity season.

Each student-athlete is required to have a sports physical completed before the tryouts. Soccer shoes, shin guards and running shoes are required for practices.

Waimea Athletics is accepting youth volleyball registration for ages 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14 until Sept. 8.

The fee is $25 per person and includes uniform, 8×10 league photo and team equipment. Coach volunteers also are needed.

Kamehameha-Hawaii is seeking a girls soccer coach and the deadline to apply is Sunday.

Applicable coaching experience at the varsity, junior varsity or intermediate levels to mold talent for a successful sports program required.

Mauna Loa

Time Trial

The Hawaii Cycling Club will hold the Mauna Loa Training Time Trial on Sept. 24.

Registration takes place at the Native Tree Sanctuary on Saddle Road opposite Mauna Loa Access Road from 7:30-7:50 a.m. and the time trial starts at 8 a.m.

Riders have until 11:30 a.m. to complete the ride.

Non-Hawaii Cycling Club members must pay a $10 one-day insurance wavier fee.

HCC will transport clothing to the finish line.
