The Fire Department reports a floating body was recovered in open ocean 0.7 miles off Honolii Beach in Hilo.
The Fire Department reports a floating body was recovered in open ocean 0.7 miles off Honolii Beach in Hilo.
According to a written statement, the body was reported by a fishing boat early Tuesday afternoon. A rescue boat took the body from the ocean and took it to the Wailoa Small Boat Harbor ramp, where it was turned over to police.
There ware no reports of identity, age or gender of the body or indications of the manner of death.
The Tribune-Herald was unable to immediately contact police for additional information.
