The Arc of Hilo was the latest beneficiary of the Ohana Fuels “Fuel Up. Do Good” program, receiving a donation of $7,752.67.
Ohana Fuels partners with nonprofit organizations that serve the needs of the local community, and donates a portion of every gallon of gasoline purchased at all Ohana Fuels stations in that community. The donation to Arc of Hilo was from gasoline sales during the second quarter at all Ohana Fuels locations on the island and proceeds from car washes at the stations.
For 62 years, the Arc of Hilo has worked to improve the quality of life for people with developmental and other disabilities who reside on Hawaii Island through educational, vocational and skills training as well as employment and residential opportunities. The Arc currently serves more than 100 low income, disabled adults and teens through job creation, employment placement and quality of life improvement.
“This generous donation will go to expanding our programs, assisting our clients and workers in the field with advanced technology and train individuals in new micro-business opportunities in our Job Creation and Training Center,” said Arc CEO Debbie Perkins.
“We are excited to again be contributing to the Arc of Hilo organization,” said Kimo Haynes, president of Hawaii Petroleum. “Our ‘Fuel Up. Do Good.’ program is such a great way for us to give back.”
